CID (Customer Identity) is a sort of security used in Sony Ericsson phones to protect them against unauthorized access. The higher the CID the more difficult it is to modify your phone with free tools.

There are two types of CID: OTP CID (One Time Programmable) and Phone CID. First one is nearly impossible to change, you have to replace the chip to change it. Second one is usually the same or higher than the OTP CID and can be changed using free/payed tools or also cannot be changed, depending on the phone's platform and model.

On A1 platform it is vital to flash your phone with the firmware with exactly the same CID as your Phone CID.

CID can be checked with a tool supporting your phone (e.g. Setool, XS++, A2 Uploader, GFlash, EMMA, FAR). See Guides & Manuals section: http://www.sonyerics...l-informations/

Symbian phones have another security - AID. Possible AIDs are: 001, 002, 003 and 004.
