OnLive, the cloud game streaming service, has been around in the United States for a while now but only launched in the UK last week. The guys behind the service are ambitiously trying to become a Netflix of the gaming world, by allowing you to stream games to your TV, laptop or other mobile device. As most of the grunt work takes place server side, there’s no massive hardware requirements. This means that you should be able to see this running on an iPad 2, Android tablet and smartphone at some point in the future.
The OnLive gaming app has yet to be introduced, however the company does have an OnLive Viewer that gives you a window into the on-demand streaming service and allows you to watch multi-player games being played live by gamers around the world.
When the full service comes to Android we imagine it would be a perfect fit for the Xperia PLAY. The graphics you see in the video below, should (in theory) be possible on Xperia PLAY hardware. Time will tell on that one, in the mean time feast your eyes in the video below. If you want to try the OnLive Viewer for yourself, download the apk .
